Russian mathematician
Vladimir Voevodsky was a mathematician born on June 4, 1966, in Moscow . He held the citizenship of both the United States and the Soviet Union . Voevodsky was educated at Moscow State University , MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics , and Harvard University . In his career, Vladimir worked under the guidance of his doctoral advisor, David Kazhdan .
Voevodsky passed away on September 30, 2017, in Princeton, New Jersey . Throughout his life, he earned numerous honors, including the prestigious 2002 Fields Medal —a recognition given to outstanding mathematicians under age 40.
