W. B. Yeats, full name William Butler Yeats, was born on June 13, 1865, in Sandymount, Ireland. He held citizenship in both the Irish Free State and the Republic of Ireland. Yeats was known for his occupations as a poet, playwright, writer, and politician. He was educated at the National College of Art and Design.
Yeats founded the National Literary Society and was the author of numerous works, including "The Wanderings of Oisin and Other Poems", "The Countess Kathleen and Various Legends and Lyrics", and "Easter, 1916". His poetry was known for expressing the spirit of a whole nation in a highly artistic form.
Yeats had two children, Anne Yeats and Michael Yeats, and his father was John Butler Yeats. He passed away on January 28, 1939, in Menton, France.
