Wallace Carothers (1896-1937) was an American chemist and engineer, born in Burlington, Iowa. He was educated at the University of Illinois System and held citizenship in the United States. Carothers is notably known for his work in the field of chemistry and engineering.
He was a student of doctoral advisor Roger Adams. Carothers passed away in Wilmington, Delaware on April 29th, 1937, just two days after his 41st birthday.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Wallace Carothers was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1984.
