An online encyclopaedia, which crowd-sources authors to input content, edit and maintain editorial style. It is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, California and was founded by Jimmy Wales.
Wikipedia effectively marked the end to the Encyclopaedia Britannica series and Microsoft's Encarta, which were CD rom based encyclopaedias, and even books on the periphery of the reference category, such as the venerable Who's Who series, mostly through attrition and as demand fell off in favour of online solutions such as Wikipedia.
Wikipedia has been accused of bias over the years by companies such as the Harvard Business Review, Cracked and Gab.
Andrew Torba, CEO of Gab, has criticized Wikipedia many times both on his personal Gab account and the company's official Twitter account for their characterization of Gab as an alt-right and white supremacist populated website. They have stated that they believe their article is edited by Antifa members.
