William Greenleaf Eliot (born August 5, 1811, in New Bedford, Massachusetts) was an American minister and founder of Washington University in St. Louis. He received his education at Harvard University, Harvard Divinity School, and The George Washington University.
William was the father of Henry Ware Eliot and Thomas Lamb Eliot. He died on January 23, 1887, in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
