American children's writer
William H. Armstrong (September 14, 1911 - April 11, 1999) was a writer, novelist, and teacher from the United States. He was born in Lexington, Virginia, and passed away in Kent, Connecticut. Armstrong received his education at Hampden–Sydney College.
He is best known as the author of the novel "Sounder", which was published in 1969. Throughout his career, Armstrong worked as a teacher and a writer, combining his love for education and storytelling.
