William Jones, also known as Sir William Jones, was born on September 28, 1746, in Westminster. He was a multifaceted individual with occupations as an anthropologist, judge, poet, writer, politician, and orientalist. Jones held citizenships in the Kingdom of Great Britain and England.
He received his education at Harrow School and University College, Oxford. His parents were William Jones, a mathematician, and Mary Jones. Jones was the founder of The Asiatic Society, and passed away on April 27, 1794, in Kolkata.
