William Robert Broughton was born in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, on May 22, 1762. He was the son of Charles Broughton and Anne Elizabeth. Throughout his life, Broughton held several occupations, including an explorer, a Royal Navy officer, a Captain, and a Colonel.
In June 1815, Broughton received the honor of being appointed as a Companion of the Order of the Bath. Broughton passed away in Florence on March 14, 1821. Throughout his life, he held the nationality of the United Kingdom.
