Vladimir Andrianovich Yakovlev (1930-2008) was a Soviet and Russian house musician, composer, People's Artist of Russia, soloist of the Moscow Concert.
Biography
Vladimir Yakovlev was born in 1930. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Culture. In subsequent years, as a domrist, he performed solo concerts in various cities of the Soviet Union (these were joint tours with the Osipov Orchestra of Folk Instruments), participated in world festivals of youth and students, at which he repeatedly became a laureate. He has toured in the USA, Canada, and a number of European countries. He played the domra with the added lower string "si", thanks to which he could afford a very wide repertoire; reviewers noted the "extraordinary richness of timbre colors" in the music of his performance. In the 1970s, Yakovlev began working with guitarist Boris Okunev: he realized that the sound of the guitar is better combined with domra than the sounds of the piano. Together, the musicians recorded a record released by the company "Melody".
