Yandex.Taxi is a ride-hailing service matching riders with drivers. Users can request a ride on the site or mobile application for iOS (including Apple Watch) and Android. They can then pay with cash or card. The company is owned by the Russian tech company Yandex.
In 2017, Uber struck a partnership with Yandex and took a stake in its ride-sharing service. In 2022, the company divested itself of its holdings in Yandex’s delivery and autonomous vehicle units and sold part of its stake in Yandex.Taxi. Uber also agreed to sell Yandex its remaining stake of 29 percent.
This divestment from the technology company came in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Uber also said its three executives serving on the board of its ride-sharing partnership with Yandex would resign and be replaced by a representative overseeing the divestment.
