Yang Chuan-kwang , also known as the "Iron Man of Asia" , was an Olympic decathlete from Taiwan . He was born on October 7, 1933, in Taitung City , and had Taiwanese nationality . He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles . Yang passed away on January 28, 2007, in Los Angeles .
Yang's wife was Daisy , and they had two children, Cedric Yang and C.K. Yang Jr . During his athletic career, Yang received several awards in the decathlon, including a silver medal at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games , gold medals at the 1954 Manila and 1958 Tokyo Asian Games , and the Track & Field Athlete of the Year award in 1963 .
In addition to his decathlon achievements, Yang also earned silver medals in the 110 meters hurdles and long jump, and a bronze medal in the 400 meters hurdles during the 1958 Tokyo Asian Games .
