Yasuo Kuniyoshi was born on January 9, 1889, in Okayama, Japan. He was a Japanese citizen who worked as an artist, photographer, and painter. Kuniyoshi was also the founder of ACA Galleries and was known for his work in portrait and still life. He died in New York City on May 14, 1953.
Kuniyoshi received a Guggenheim Fellowship award and was educated at various art institutions, including the Art Students League of New York, the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, and the National Academy Museum and School. Yasuo Kuniyoshi also had an alias: くによし やすお.
