Yewno uses AI technology to collect and map out knowledge networks; they seek to turn information into knowledge in an accessible and actionable platform. The name comes from a play on the words "You Know" and refers to the English Yew tree.
Established in 2014 after CEO and founder Ruggero Gramatica developed an algorithmic approach to help a life sciences company explore how they might repurpose existing biological molecules to cure rare diseases. They approach allowed him to process almost 23 million medical documents and from them create a biomedical knowledge graph. From this, Yewno created a proprietary knowledge graph framework and inference engine. These have been applied to fields as diverse as finance, economics, law, education, marketing, general research and the aforementioned life sciences.
In 2018, Yewno used their AI to create two initial indexes with Nasdaq. These are the Nasdaq Yewno Global Disruptive Technology Benchmark Index and Nasdaq Yewno Global Innovative Technologies Index Family. These indices are thematically grouped and use Yewno's technology to source companies likely to see future success thanks to new technologies or patents linked to them. Yewno's screening ensures also that certain goods, such as vacuum cleaners, aren't included in the Nasdaq Yewno Global Future Mobility index which is thematically aligned to driverless and electric cars and their supply chains.
Yewno's initial product, through discover students, librarians and faculty members at schools can create knowledge maps in conjunction with Yewno's database of publications by major publishers and outside content. The AI then analyzes the documents, extracts meaning in the form of concepts, which are in turn mapped to show correlations among the data-sets.
Yewno Life Sciences uses their data-driven analysis and AI-based algorithms to model the complexity and behavior of pathophysiology to understand how biological, biomedical and medical entities interact.
Yewno's financial product, Yewno Edge uses their proprietary AI and analysis to collect hundreds of millions of data points and allow a better understanding of the complex data. This platform gives access to portfolio exposures (such as tariffs or Brexit), a strategy builder, company insights (including real-time pricing, sentiment scores and concept exposures) and key developments (new and market-moving events).
Developed to give secondary school students the ability to research, write, collaborate and publish research articles. The platform offers template-driven instructions and allows students to submit their work to Open Source journals and download it in presentable formats.
Yewno's Unearth allows publishers to look across entire collections and expose the value within holdings. Unearth provides accurate and granular content information. This information enables publishers insight into their content to help optimize their operations. The tool allows publishers to download detailed reports of their content at a portfolio, title, chapter or article level.
