ZetaChain is a California-based technology company that has developed a blockchain of the same name. It was founded in 2021 and is operated by a team with decades of experience in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industries. The stated mission of the company is to develop a way to move value and information across layers of blockchain in a simple and secure manner. The company also states its platform is meant to support a multi-chain crypto ecosystem so users and developers can experience the features, such as payments, decentralized finance, games, and art, on any blockchain.
ZetaChain is a decentralized, proof-of-stake blockchain that was built using the Cosmos software development kit (SDK) and Tendermint consensus. As of November 2022, it is still in its testnet phase. It enables omnichain interoperability so it can connect to external blockchains, such as Ethereum and Solana, and layers, such as Polygon. The structure of ZetaChain allows for omnichain decentralized applications (dApps), which can facilitate liquidity on multiple networks while also updating the states of connected networks.
The platform uses threshold signature scheme (TSS) architecture, which allows the network to sign and verify transactions. It is also designed to enable reading and writing among connected chains, thus creating an omnichannel environment. ZetaChain also has an omnichain messenger feature that can be used by developers to pass data through chains with simple function calls. Using this feature, developers can launch cross-channel dApps.
ZetaChain include the use of smart contracts, which can be deployed natively on the platform and can also read and write to connected chains and its asset management feature. This feature allows the network and dApps that are built on top of it to manage assets and vaults of external connected chains.
