nference is a knowledge synthesis software platform that analyses global biomedical siloed datasets. It is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 2013 by Venky Soundararajan.
The platform uses artifical intelligence and machine learning to extract insights from unstructured and structured data from biomedical literature, as well as large scale molecular and real world datasets. The software is marketed towards pharmaceutical research and development and life sciences companies.
In 2017, nference partners with the Mayo clinic to launch a drug development startup, Qrativ. Qrativ utilizes nference's knowledge synthesis to analyze expertise and clinical data to develop treatments for disease with unmet medical need.
In January 2016, nference raised $3 million of funding in a seed round. The company raised $11 million in Series A funding during June 2018. Mayo Clinic Ventures lead the companies $60 million Series B funding round that was announced in January 2020.
