Andrej Karpathy was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. He graduated with PhD from Stanford University in 2015 focusing on Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. He was the founding member of OpenAI where he worked from 2015 to 2017 as a research scientist focusing on Deep Learning, Generative Models and Reinforcement Learning.
He worked as the Sr. Director of AI at Tesla from 2017-2022 where he led the computer vision team of Tesla Autopilot.
After leaving Tesla, Karpathy is teaching Artificial Intelligience by releasing lectures on Youtube to make it easier for people to get into AI and believe it would lead to more prosperity more faster.
