The Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) is a national research institute funded by A*STAR with core expertise in bioprocess science and engineering. Established in 1990 as the Bioprocessing Technology Unit, it was renamed the Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) in 2003.
BTI uses expertise in both mammalian and microbial expression systems to optimise yield and quality of biological products by vector and cellular engineering. Cell lines and technologies are available for licensing.
A comprehensive suite of technologies from cell clarification, filtration, chromatography, virus inactivation, to sterilization enables BTI to adopt industry standards for scalable isolation and purification of biological products.
BTI performs characterization of bioprocesses and products to improve yield, quality and safety. Novel sensors and virtual models are being developed to better understand, monitor, and control the bioprocess.
