Albert W. Tucker (born November 28, 1905, in Ontario ; died January 25, 1995, in New Jersey ) was a mathematician with citizenship in both Canada and the United States . He was educated at the University of Toronto and was an influential mathematical mentor throughout his career. Among his doctoral students were Marvin Minsky , Lloyd Shapley , John Forbes Nash Jr. , and John R. Isbell . As a mathematician, Tucker contributed to various fields, including game theory, linear programming, and combinatorial topology.
