Alexander von Humboldt

Alexander von Humboldt was a Kingdom of Prussia citizen born in Berlin on September 14, 1769 . He was a geologist , geographer , Geheimrat , chamberlain , volcanologist , polymath , astronomer , scientist , economist , politician , and explorer .

Humboldt was educated at several institutions, including Viadrina European University , University of Göttingen , University of Jena , and Freiberg University of Mining and Technology . His doctoral advisor was Georg Christoph Lichtenberg , and his doctoral students include Otto Wilhelm Hermann von Abich and Johann Wilhelm Ritter .

He passed away in Berlin on May 6, 1859 . Alexander von Humboldt was the founder of the Egyptian Museum of Berlin .
