Archduchess Maria Maddalena of Austria (1589-1631) was born on July 10, 1589 in Graz, Austria. She was the youngest daughter of Charles II, Archduke of Austria, and his wife Maria Anna of Bavaria. Maria Maddalena held Austrian citizenship and was a politician and queen consort.
Maria Maddalena married Cosimo II de' Medici and became the Grand Duchess of Tuscany from his accession in 1609 until his death in 1621. She was the Mother of Anna de' Medici, Archduchess of Austria, Giancarlo de' Medici, Margherita de' Medici, Francesco de' Medici (1614–1634), Leopoldo de' Medici, Ferdinando II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, Maria de' Medici (1540–1557), and Mattias de' Medici.
