Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. is an American manufacturer of spacecraft, components, and instruments for national defense, civil space, and commercial space applications. Ball Aerospace is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL), with headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, and additional offices in Bloomfield and Westminster, Colorado.
Ball Aerospace was founded and began building pointing controls for military rockets in 1956. Since then, the company has created components for various projects and companies, including DARPA's Orbital Express, NASA's Orbiting Solar Observatory, and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) Program.
Currently, Ball Aerospace is working on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) system, and the Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS).
