Bayesian Health is a developer of a decision-support software system designed to give health care providers real-time data for health systems. This is done through the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to multi-layered clinical data sets to offer real-time access to inferences that make healthcare safer and work to increase its efficiency. This platform uses data and new research to help physicians and caregivers diagnose, intervene, and deliver proactive care.
Bayesian Health was founded in 2018 by Dr. Suchi Saria, a previous machine learning expert and AI developer, to help healthcare systems to improve patient safety and quality of care.
Bayesian Health's platform offers real-time data-based insights for physicians and health care providers. This includes for diagnostic systems, complications, preventable events, and CMS penalties. The platform uses artificial intelligence and behavior change science in order to deliver safer and higher-quality care. This is, in part, through real-time clinical signals to drive faster treatment and better care outcomes.
The platform sits within the EMR, where it can analyze patient data and send accurate and actionable clinical signals within existing workflows. The platform is based on technology licensed from Johns Hopkins University, is capable of scaling within health systems, and targets areas with specific modules such as clinical deterioration, sepsis, pressure injury, and transitions of care.
A single-site study into Bayesian's platform and its abilities in a healthcare environment found a 14 percent reduction in ICU admissions, a 12 percent reduction in the length of ICU stay, and a 10 percent reduction in need of supportive therapies. These improvements represented a $2.5 million annualized benefit for the 250 bed study site hospital.
