Benjamin Rush

Benjamin Rush was born on December 24, 1745, in Byberry, Philadelphia and passed away on April 19, 1813, in Philadelphia. He had multiple occupations, including chemist, writer, psychiatrist, physician, and politician. He held citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Rush studied at several academic institutions, including Princeton University, West Nottingham Academy, and the University of Edinburgh. His doctoral advisors were Joseph Black and William Cullen. He was the founder of the American Psychiatric Association and was nicknamed the "Father of American Psychiatry".

Benjamin Rush had a son named Richard Rush.
