Boundary Layer Technologies builds cargo ships using hydrofoils that can deliver ocean freight three times faster than traditional cargo ships.
Boundary Layer Technologies designs and manufactures the hydrofoil container ships intended to be an alternative for the existing airfreight industry. The company's container ships are designed using hydrofoil technology which generates lift, propels the hull of the vessel out of the water and reduces drag, enabling logistic industries to deliver ocean freight at a faster rate.At these speeds, the company claims it can deliver freight almost as fast as air freight at a reduced cost.
Boundary Layer Technologies took part in the Y Combinator accelerator as part of the W19 batch. After graduating from the accelerator, Boundary Layer Technologies raised a seed funding round which they announced on March 18, 2019 with a total of $2.3 million raised from lead investor Fifty Years VC as well as V1.VC, Y Combinator, Tamar Capital, Oyster Ventures, Jude Gomila and Hack VC.
