Breitling SA is a luxury watchmaking company headquartered in Grenchen, Switzerland. It was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling. Breitling SA has been owned by CVC Capital Partners since June 2017, when CVC acquired 80% of Breitling's shares. In November 2018, CVC acquired the remaining 20%. Georges Kern is the CEO as of 2017.
Breitling SA created the modern designed chronograph watch in 1934, with two side buttons for starting and stopping the smaller stopwatch clocks on the watch.
Breitling SA offers several lines of watches, including the Navitimer line for pilots and flight instructors, as well as the Superocean line for divers. Breitling also creates a watch called Breitling Emergency, which is equipped with a dual frequency emergency transmitter that sends out a highly accurate location signal to satellites once the alarm is activated. Rescue services are then deployed. The watch can give off location signals for up to twenty four hours on a full charge.
