Founded in 2013, Canaan Creative is a company producing blockchain servers and solutions for repetition ASIC chips. The Chinese bitcoin mining hardware manufacturing company was founded by Nangeng Zhang who invented and delivered a cryptocurrency mining machine incorporating application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology. The company previously dedicated its research and development efforts to ASIC applications for Bitcoin mining.
Apart from manufacturing cryptocurrency mining equipment, Canaan Creative also dedicates resources for the research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) chips. In September 2018, Canaan Creative delivered computing AI chips based on Risc-V architecture, which is a set of instructions that describes the way in which software connects with an underlying processor, and self-developed neural-network accelerator. The ICs that the company designs are manufactured, packaged, and tested by suppliers like TSMC, Samsung, STATS ChipPac, ASE and SPIL.
The following are some of the company's products:
An edge computing chip, designed for both visual and semantic recognition, and used in various scenarios like face detection and face recognition, image recognition and image classification, and anti-spoof.
A mid-to-high-end edge inference chip equipped with an upgraded version of the IP core KPU2.0. It integrates an image processor supporting 2D/3D noise reduction, WDR wide dynamic, fisheye correction and hardware 3A functions. The K510 supports a different applications like high-definition video conferencing, high-definition aerial photography, and robotics.
XGO robot dog possesses Canaan’s K210 64-bit dual-core chip, providing omni-directional movement, six-dimensional navigation control and stabilization support, plus multiple movement modes. It possesses 9-axis IMU and joint positioning sensors, providing behavioral and joint feedback. The rotation angle and torque are utilized for internal algorithm and secondary development. It supports cross-platform graphics and Python programming.
