German philosopher
Carl Gustav Hempel (1905-1997) was a German-born mathematician, computer scientist, and philosopher who held citizenship in both Germany and the United States . He was born in Oranienburg and passed away in Princeton, New Jersey . Hempel received his education at the University of Göttingen , where he was advised by Hans Reichenbach .
Throughout his career, Hempel made numerous contributions to various fields, most notably philosophy , mathematics , and computer science .
