Castor Networks is a satellite service provider and teleport operator. The company offers VSAT and mobile satellite services to companies in the mining, maritime, and energy industries, NGOs, and Governments. Broadcasting customers are offered live audio and video transmission services, downlink and transcoding services, and uplinking of TV bouquets. Wholesale customers in the satellite industry are offered teleport services, virtual network operator (VNO) services, and satellite capacity leasing.
The company operates more than 16 antennas ranging from 3.7 meters up to 18 meters in diameter and is available on 10 satellite footprints covering Africa, Europe, and the Middle East in Ku and C-band and parts of Asia and the Caribbean in the Ku-band. The services offered through these antennas and satellites include:
- iDirect services, or high-speed VSAT services for business, maritime, military, and NGO customers requiring internet, VPN, and VOIP services via satellite
- iDirect VNO services with up and downlink services for satellite service providers
- Teleport up and downlink services and collocation
- Satellite capacity lease and occasional use
- Support, monitoring tools, VSAT hardware and installation services
Starting between 2023 and 2024, Castor Networks intends to offer low-Earth orbit-based satellite services based on Telesat's Lightspeed satellite network. The company aims to offer lower latency data processing, uninterrupted cloud applications, and remote device and machine control through the LEO services. The company chose the Telesat constellation based on the constellations global spectrum rights, the company's funding to launch the satellite constellation, current orbital testing and results, and the open architecture which Telesat has committed to offers Castor Networks the possibility to develop custom services on the constellation, and a chance to resell the network to customers.
For Castor Networks users, the company offers the Voyager platform which offers users visibility in internet traffic and control over the way the internet connection is used. This includes blocking undesired traffic in order to have a better experience. The voyager platform enables IT managers to manage the internet traffic through:
- Graphs that show applications using the internet connection
- Allowance for prioritizing, limiting, and blocking on the application level, which can be done for times and days of the week
- Protection against cyber threats.
These services are offered through the Voyager platforms portals, called Voyager Analyze, Voyager Command, and Voyager Protect, respectively.
