Charles Bolden, born on August 19, 1946, is an American astronaut and test pilot originally from Columbia, South Carolina. He holds United States citizenship and is primarily known for his role as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Hubble Space Telescope.
Bolden attended several academic institutions throughout his career, including the United States Naval Academy, University of Southern California, USC Viterbi School of Engineering, and the United States Naval Test Pilot School.
