Cloudera Inc is a United States-based software company. It has developed platforms for data management, machine learning and advanced analytics. The company's platform enables organizations to use vast amounts of data from a variety of sources, including the Internet of Things (IoT), to better serve and market to their customers, design connected products and services and reduce risk through greater insight from data. The company's platform addresses three new markets: Dynamic Data Management Systems, Cognitive/AI Systems and Content Analytics Software, and Advanced and Predictive Analytics Software.
Cloudera was founded in 2008 by veterans of Silicon Valley companies, including Google (Christophe Bisciglia), Yahoo! (Amr Awadallah), Oracle (Mike Olson), and Facebook (Jeff Hammerbacher). Doug Cutting, co-creator of Hadoop, joined the company in 2009 as Chief Architect and remains in that role. Cloudera has grown to more than 1,600 employees. They have offices in 24 countries around the globe, with their headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
Cloudera Data Platform is an integrated data platform offering users enterprise analytics and data management with Cloudera's security and governance capabilities, which Cloudera says can deliver a secured data experience for the user. CDP uses machine learning to autoscale workloads for cost-effective use of cloud infrastructure. The platform manages data in any environment, including multiple public clouds, bare metal, private cloud, and hybrid cloud.
Cloudera DataFlow, formerly Hortonworks DataFlow, is a scalable, real-time streaming analytics platform that ingests, curates and analyzes data for insights and actionable intelligence. The platform is a no-code approach to processing real- time data, tracking data provenance and lineage of streaming data and monitoring and managing edge applications and streaming sources.
Cloudera Data Science Workbench is a platform for collaborative data science which Cloudera says will accelerate machine learning from research to production built for enterprise scale. Cloudera Data Science Workbench works with Python, R, and Scala and allows users to manage their analytics pipelines, with scheduling, monitoring and email alerting. As well, users can download libraries and frameworks in project environments.
The Cloudera Data hub is a mutli-function analytics platform for data-driven and cloud-first enterprises which Cloudera says uses their security and governance applications. The Cloudera Data Hub platform includes a suite of analytic engines ranging from stream and batch data processing to data warehousing, operational database, and machine learning.
