David D. Friedman (born on 12 February 1945) is an economist, physicist, writer, novelist, and poet from the United States. He is the son of famous economists Milton Friedman and Rose Friedman, and the father of Patri Friedman.
Friedman studied at Harvard University and the University of Chicago. In his career, he worked extensively with economist Friedrich Hayek who was his doctoral advisor. Peter Leeson, a well-known economist, was one of Friedman's doctoral students.
