Edgar J. Goodspeed (born October 23, 1871) was an American Orientalist, translator, and writer. He was originally named Edgar Johnson Goodspeed . He was born in Quincy, Illinois and held citizenship in the United States. Goodspeed died on January 13, 1962, in Los Angeles.
Goodspeed pursued his education at both the University of Chicago and Denison University . A few of his notable occupations included orientalism, translation, and writing . Goodspeed's writing abilities were utilized most memorably in his work "An American Translation" .
