Erik Ivar Fredholm

Erik Ivar Fredholm was a Swedish mathematician born on April 7, 1866, in Stockholm . He is known for his work in integral equations, specifically the development of the Fredholm operator , Fredholm integral equation , Fredholm's theorem , Fredholm determinant , Fredholm kernel , Fredholm alternative , Fredholm theory , Analytic Fredholm theorem , and Fredholm module .

Fredholm received his education at the Royal Institute of Technology , Stockholm University , and Uppsala University . He was a doctoral student of Gösta Mittag-Leffler and, in turn, advised Carl-Gustaf Rossby as a doctoral advisor.

Fredholm passed away on August 17, 1927, in Mörby, Sweden .
