Austrian biochemist who emigrated to the united states
Erwin Chargaff (1905-2002) was an Austrian-American biochemist, chemist, and writer who was born in Chernivtsi and held citizenship in both Austria and the United States. He is known for his work in the fields of biochemistry and chemistry and gained his education from the University of Vienna and Yale University.
Chargaff was a talented writer as well and passed away in New York City in 2002. He was a doctoral advisor to Boris Magasanik and studied under Fritz Feigl.
