Ferdinand I (born March 10, 1503, in Alcalá de Henares, and died July 25, 1564, in Vienna, was the Holy Roman Emperor from 1556 until his death in 1564. He was also King of Bohemia, Hungary, and Croatia from 1526, and Archduke of Austria from 1521 until his death. Before his accession as Emperor, he ruled the Austrian hereditary lands of the Habsburgs in the name of his elder brother, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor.
Ferdinand I was the son of Joanna of Castile and Philip I of Castile. His nationality was Austrian. Ferdinand I had several children, including Elizabeth of Austria(1526–1545), Ferdinand II, Archduke of Austria, Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor, and Anna of Austria, Queen of Spain.
During his life, Ferdinand held occupations as King, Emperor, and Aristocracy (class). He is associated with the Armor of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor and is considered the founder of the Thirty Years' War.
