Frederick I, Elector of Brandenburg, was born on 21 September 1371 in Nuremberg and died on 20 September 1440 in Cadolzburg. He was a citizen of Germany and known for being the last Burgrave of Nuremberg from 1397 to 1427. He also held the titles of Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach from 1398, Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach from 1420, and Elector of Brandenburg. His occupations included being a military personnel, margrave, burgrave, and politician.
Frederick I was the son of Elisabeth of Meissen and Frederick V, Burgrave of Nuremberg. He had several children, including Albrecht III Achilles, Elector of Brandenburg, Margaret of Brandenburg (1410–1465), Cecilia of Brandenburg, John, Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, Frederick II, Elector of Brandenburg, and Dorothea of Brandenburg, Duchess of Mecklenburg. He was also the father of Magdalene of Brandenburg, Elisabeth of Brandenburg, Duchess of Brzeg-Legnica and Cieszyn, Dorothea of Mecklenburg, and Frederick of Altmark.
