G. K. Chesterton , also known as Gilbert Keith Chesterton, was a British journalist, poet, novelist, writer, screenwriter, philosopher, illustrator, historian, playwright, and essayist. He was born in Kensington, London, on May 29, 1874, and died in Beaconsfield on June 14, 1936. Chesterton held citizenship in both the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
He was educated at the University College London (UCL), St Paul's School, London, St Paul's Juniors, and the Slade School of Fine Art. Chesterton was best known for his works in the genres of essay, poetry, and fantasy literature.
Notable works by Chesterton include The Man Who Was Thursday, The Club of Queer Trades, Father Brown, The Napoleon of Notting Hill, the book Orthodoxy, and The Everlasting Man.
