Galgus is a developer of cognitive wireless networking technology designed to improve Wi-Fi connections. The company's technology is hardware-agnostic and is designed to be installed on Wi-Fi devices to optimize spectral efficiencies for Wi-Fi routers and access points. For this, Galgus has developed cognitive hotspot technology (CHT) capable of bringing distributed intelligence to any Wi-Fi network, controlling radio resources and maximizing the performance for every user.
The company markets its solutions to OEMs and system integrators delivering Wi-Fi networks, where the software developed by Galgus can make those Wi-Fi networks intelligent and capable of optimizing spectral efficiencies for Wi-Fi routers and access points. The company was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Camas, Seville. Customers and partners of Galgus have included WiFi4EU, Telefonica, and Barcelo.
Galgus's software-defined Wi-Fi is a technology that works to optimize networks, unify network management, offer in-depth analytics, and offer advanced security, all at an affordable price. Galgus sells its APs directly and can integrate its software solutions into APs specifically designed for the most difficult scenarios or for special projects. Software-defined Wi-Fi is also intended to extend the lifetime of compatible APs with the company's software. And as the company's solutions work to be hardware-agnostic, the company suggests a user can change hardware while continuing to use the same management and functionalities.
Galgus's Cognitive Hotspot Technology (CHT) is a distributed intelligence software that transforms each access point into an agent that monitors its environment and shares information with the rest of nodes so they can make the best decisions for smooth network operation, such as reducing interference and noise, traffic patterns, and user density, without need for human intervention. The CHT is capable of working without a centralized or cloud controller and can be embedded in each node.
Galgus cloud manager is a platform to help OEMs manage Wi-Fi networks in a unified way. From its user interface, users can configure the features of an AP and analyze in real time what is happening in a network and its surroundings. The cloud manager allows users to configure their network, control who has access to the network, optimize resource use, backup and update the network, troubleshoot remotely, analyze in-depth statistics on usage, perform location analytics, and make use of a microservices architecture.
Galgus's location analytics allows users to take advantage of the Wi-Fi infrastructure to collect real-time data regarding a user, including location, people density, heat maps, and device count. This can work for both network-connected and non-connected devices and devices that pass by a node.
Galgus also provides advanced laboratory testing infrastructure to help test a network with real devices to simulate a network as close to real-life as possible. These products test guarantee to correct the operation of a system. The lab allows for a number of advanced settings:
- Encryption and association mode
- Customer distribution and number of antennas
- Type of experimental setting
- Upstream and downstream traffic
- Client and radio distribution after load balance
- Client performance and stability
- Alarms showing faults and thermal anomalies
Galgus offers a series of hardware and software products for use in network infrastructure and development. These include access points, switches, routers, network enhancers, firewalls, antennas, PoE feeders, and professional services to help in the design, deployment, or project support. These products include a Cloud Manager, which offers a cloud platform for the management and analytics of the entire infrastructure.
The company markets its solutions for various sectors, including tourist intelligence, enterprise, retail, education, smart cities, stations and airports, stadiums and events, hotels and resorts, transportation, and industry.
