Gregory Skovoroda (born on December 3, 1722, as Grigory Skovoroda) was a Ukrainian philosopher, writer, composer, and poet. He was born in Chernukhi, Ukraine, and his parents were Savva Skovoroda and Pelageya Skovoroda. Skovoroda was educated at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Throughout his career, Skovoroda worked in various genres, including fables and treatises. He passed away on November 9, 1794, in Skovorodinovka, Ukraine.
Skovoroda held Ukrainian nationality, and Ukraine was his country of citizenship. He used the pseudonym Grigory Skovoroda during his career.
Skovoroda had several competitors in the fields of philosophy, literature, and arts, including but not limited to Panteleimon Kulish, Lina Kostenko, Yurii Andrukhovych, Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky, Oksana Zabuzhko, Vasily Livanov, Ivan Kotlyarevsky, Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, and Panas Myrny.
