HIVE Blockchain Technologies Ltd. is a Vancouver-based blockchain infrastructure company and the first publicly traded cryptocurrency mining company. HIVE facilities mine cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, continuously on the cloud from its data centers in North America and Europe. The company also advertises its use of renewable energy systems and use of less energy than traditional blockchain mining methods.
HIVE was founded in 2017 by Olivier Roussy Newton, who also serves as the company's Strategic Advisor. The company first went public on the TSX in 2017 and was approved for listing on the NASDAQ in June of 2021. As of 2021, Darcy Daubaras serves as HIVE's CFO, with Canadian businessman Frank E. Holmes currently serving as interim CEO and Executive Chairman.
