HTC is a member of the Open Handset Alliance, a group of handset manufacturers and mobile operators dedicated to promoting the Android mobile platform. Sold by T-Mobile in many countries under the name T-Mobile G1 or Era G1 in Poland, the HTC Dream was the first phone on the market to use the Android platform[5]. On September 21, 2017, Google and HTC announce a $1.1 billion collaboration agreement. Some HTC employees - many of whom have worked on Pixel smartphones - will join Google. Google obtains access to HTC's intellectual property under a non-exclusive license agreement. The agreement will allow HTC to innovate and continue to grow its smartphone business.
