HackerOne is a cybersecurity company offering an application security platform for enterprises that is headquartered in San Francisco, California and was founded in 2012 by Michiel Prins, Jobert Abma, Alex Rice, and Merijn Terheggen. The companies platform leverages a global network of cumputer hackers to find cybersecurity issues of HackerOne customers before they are exploited by criminals. Notable companies that have used the HackerOne platform include: Nintendo, Microsoft, Twitter, Shopify, Snapchat, Google Play, Lufthansa, Qualcomm, PayPal, Toyota, Media Markt, Saturn, Slack, List, Deliveroo, HBO, GM, the Alibaba Security Response Center, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
In November 2013 HackerOne completed their series A funding round with $9 million in funding led by Benchmark.
On June 25, 2015 HackerOne completed their series B funding round with $25 million in funding from New Enterprise Associates (lead investor) and Benchmark. At the time of funding HackerOne added NEA's Jon Sakoda to its board of directors.
On February 8, 2017 HackerOne completed their series C funding round with $40 million in funding from Dragoneer Investment Group. The company plans on using their new funding to strengthen its online community of hackers, expand its market reach, and invest in technological development.
On September 8, 2019 HackerOne completed their series D funding round with $36.4 million in funding form Equity Partners (lead investor), Benchmark, New Enterprise Associates, Dragoneer Investment Group, and EQT Ventures.
