Isadore Singer was a mathematician born in Detroit on April 24, 1924. He was a citizen of the United States. Singer studied at the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago. Throughout his career, Singer served as a doctoral advisor to notable mathematicians, including John Lott, Dan Freed, Hugo Rossi, and Richard L. Bishop. In total, he mentored more than ten doctoral students.
Singer's contributions to mathematics were recognized with the 2004 Abel Prize. He passed away on February 11, 2021, in Boxborough, Massachusetts.
