J. Allen Hynek (1910-1986) was a physicist, astronomer, and writer who held citizenship in the United States. Born in Chicago, he studied at the University of Chicago. Hynek founded the Center for UFO Studies and served as a mentor to doctoral student Jacques Vallée. He passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona.
