Dutch economist
Jan Tinbergen (1903-1994) was a Dutch economist and professor. Born in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands, he studied at Leiden University. Throughout his career, he earned various accolades, including the 1969 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Tinbergen passed away in his hometown, The Hague, in 1994.
Paul Ehrenfest served as Tinbergen's doctoral advisor, while Tjalling Koopmans and Hans van den Doel were his notable doctoral students. Throughout his lifetime, Tinbergen worked in various roles as an economist and professor in the Netherlands.
