Jayson Kim is a cofounder and general partner of Legendary Ventures. Prior to founding the firm, Kim worked at a number of e-commerce and apparel companies.
Kim is from New York. He graduated from Columbia University. As an alum of Columbia, Kim has donated to the Alumni Fund and Columbia's Technology Acceleration Program for entrepreneurs in collaboration with Legendary Ventures.
Kim has extensive career experience with e-commerce and catalogs. From 1999 to 2002, Kim worked at J.Crew as the senior director of marketing. From 2002 to 2005, he was the vice president and general manager of The Jones Group. He was an operating partner at TPG from 2005 to 2013. From 2005 to 2007, he was the vice president and general manager of Perry Ellis International. He held the same two roles at Fossil Group from 2008 to 2010. Kim worked at BCBGMAXAZRIA from 2010 to 2012 as the divisional vice president of consumer marketing. Since 2012, Kim has worked at Legendary Ventures as a general partner.
Kim cofounded Legendary Ventures in 2012. The firm invests in emerging consumer retail technology start-ups across all stages of their business lifecycles. It has invested in companies including FiscalNote, SpaceX, Gemist, Toybox Labs, Ome, Snorble, and Parrable.
Kim was a board member of Vrai in 2020 and Gemist from 2019 to 2021. He has been a board member of Bevite since 2015. As of October 2022, he is a board advisor of the following companies: Toybox Labs, Novelship, NSLComm, FiscalNote, and Nokia. Kim is an honorary trustee of Girl Scouts of the USA.
