John George I, Elector of Saxony (born on March 5, 1585, in Dresden) was a German politician and military personnel. He was the second son of Elector Christian I and Sophie of Brandenburg, and belonged to the Albertine line of the House of Wettin.
John George I married Sibylle Elisabeth of Württemberg and became the father of several children, including Duchess Marie Elisabeth of Saxony, Christian I, Duke of Saxe-Merseburg, Sophia Eleonore of Saxony, George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, Augustus, Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels, Christiane of Saxe-Merseburg, Maurice, Duke of Saxe-Zeitz, John George II, Elector of Saxony, and Magdalene Sibylle of Saxony.
