John Oliver Creighton (born April 28, 1943) is an American former astronaut and aircraft pilot with a distinguished career. Born in Orange, Texas, Creighton holds American citizenship.
Creighton attended a number of educational institutions, including the United States Naval Academy, The George Washington University, and the United States Naval Test Pilot School. He has held numerous roles throughout his career, serving as an officer in the armed forces and an aircraft pilot, as well as an astronaut.
Throughout his career, Creighton has received various awards and recognitions, including the NASA Space Flight Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross (United States), Air Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, NASA Distinguished Service Medal, and the NASA Leadership Medal.
