Karista is a Paris-based venture capital firm with a focus on making early-stage investments. It has been in business for more than twenty years and was originally founded with the name CapDecisif Management. The firm changed its name in 2020 to its current name. The industries in which it invests include health, digital, technology, and NewSpace.
The firm has invested in more than one hundred companies since its inception in 2001. It usually invests in companies that are raising Seed and Series A funding. Investment amounts range from $2,000,000 to $30,000,000. The firm has raised six funds over the years for a total of more than $281,000,000 raised.
The CapDecisif 1 fund was announced on December 1, 2001 and refers to the the former name of the company. The fund invested in early-stage French companies with amounts ranging from $500,000 to $1,500,000 in each portfolio company.
In June 2007, the firm raised its second fund. It raised approximately $26,000,000. It predominantly invested in healthcare and biotechnology companies.
The CapDecisif 3 fund was announced on April 11, 2011. It raised more than $47,000,000 and invested in products and solutions such as IT software and drug discovery. Each portfolio company received approximately $1,500,000 to $6,000,000 in funding.
In January 2012, the firm raised more than $50,000,000 for its fourth fund. It invested in companies that were developing products and solutions for industries such as software, electronics, and logistics.
The CapDecisif IV - Digital Health Fund was announced in July 2018 and raised more than $50,000,000. Investors in the fund included BNP Paribas, Caisse d’Epargne Ile-de-France, and Bpifrance.
On October 19, 2021, Karista raised over $38,000,000 with its CosmiCapital fund. This fund invested in companies in the NewSpace sector and had the stated goal of taking advantage of the space economy and investing in French and European companies within that sector.
