Banque Publique d'investissement (literally [French] Public Investment Bank, also known as Bpifrance, BPI Groupe S.A.) is a French investment bank. It was a joint venture of two public entities: Caisse des dépôts et consignations and "EPIC BPI-Groupe". (ex- "EPIC OSEO") a Former subsidiary of "EPIC OSEO", "OSEO S.A.", it became the subsidiary of Bpifrance as Bpifrance Financement. The bank is supervised by the European Central Bank directly due to its size.
The company was founded in 1980 and is based in Maisons-Alfort, France. EPIC BPI-Groupe (BPI is the acronym of Banque Publique d'Investissement) is a French government agency, previously known as EPIC OSEO. In 2013 French government reorganized their sovereign funds, OSEO's subsidiary, OSEO S.A., was merged with Fonds stratégique d'investissement and Caisse des dépôts et consignations's CDC Entreprises to form Banque Publique d'Investissement S.A. (BPI or Bpifrance)
Bpifrance is a subsidiary of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and the French State. As a trusted partner for entrepreneurs, it promotes competitiveness and provides growth services for companies on behalf of the French State, acting in support of public policy. Bpifrance assists businesses of all sizes, primarily micro-businesses, SMEs and mid-caps, but also big firms that are considered strategic in terms of national economy, territories or employment.
Bpifrance offers a funding continuum encompassing every stage of a company's development. From seed phase to transfer to stock exchange listing, Bpifrance supports entrepreneurs with loans, guarantees, and equity. Acting in the French Regions, Bpifrance relies on a decentralized network of 43 regional offices, being in direct contact with the entrepreneurs and their partners. 90% of all decision making is thus located in the regional offices.
Bpifrance Financement S.A. provides credit and financing solutions. The company offers financing and support services for projects; investment and operational cycle financing alongside banking institutions; and bank financing guarantees. It provides medium or long-term loans, and real estate or equipment financial leasing solutions for tangible or intangible capital assets; and financing of working capital requirements in the form of loans, as well as for immaterial investments. The company was formerly known as OSEO S.A. and changed its name to Bpifrance Financement S.A. in July 2013.
Bpifrance assists companies, booting up the listing on the stock exchange. Bpifrance includes OSEO, CDC Entreprises, FSI and FSI Regions to offer financial solutions at every life-stage of the business. These companies were be transferred to Bpifrance after the General Meeting of 12 July 2013. They were transferred the same day, first Bpifrance Finance (ex- SLA ) and secondly Bpifrance Investment (comprising CDC Entreprises, FSI and FSI regions ). CDC Entreprises, FSI and FSI Regions were transferred be in the second half, after obtaining social and regulatory approvals, merged into one management company: Bpifrance Investment.
Bpifrance has made 338 investments. One of their investment was on Mar 19, 2019, when they invested €150M in Doctolib.
